Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our 3D optical scanning metrology, automotive ASA polymer production, mail-in part process, and guaranteed factory fitment.
How do you guarantee that replacement parts fit like factory OEM?
Unlike hand-modeled CAD files or low-resolution hobbyist scans, we use industrial optical metrology 3D scanners with an accuracy tolerance of ±0.05 mm.
We capture the original part's mounting clip geometry, draft angles, and perimeter curves directly from genuine OEM donor specimens. We also maintain physical dash clip fixtures in our Boston studio to test-fit locking tabs before dispatch.
What if my original part has completely broken tabs or missing clips?
This is our core specialty. Over 80% of original interior trim pieces sent to us have snapped mounting tabs from age or prior removal.
In our parametric CAD software, we reconstruct the damaged or missing tabs back to original OEM thickness and mating angle. If an opposite-side tab is intact, we mirror its exact geometry; otherwise, we reference factory receiver slots to ensure a solid, direct snap-in lock.
Why do you manufacture with ASA polymer instead of standard PLA or ABS?
Automotive passenger cabins experience extreme thermal cycles. In summer, locked vehicle interiors regularly exceed 65°C (150°F), with dashboard surfaces reaching over 80°C (176°F) in direct sunlight.
Standard 3D printing filaments like PLA soften at just 55°C (131°F) and will rapidly warp or droop. Automotive-grade ASA (Acrylonitrile Styrene Acrylate) has a heat deflection threshold of 100°C (212°F), provides built-in UV resistance to prevent yellowing or embrittlement, and delivers an OEM-style satin-matte finish.
Can I sand, paint, wrap, or hydro-dip your parts?
Yes. ASA is one of the easiest automotive polymers to post-process. It can be wet-sanded, primed with standard automotive plastic adhesion promoter, and painted with OEM factory spray paints or wrapped in vinyl.
However, our parts are manufactured with a uniform satin-matte black texture that closely matches 90s and 2000s factory dashboard plastic, so most customers install them directly as-is.
How does the mail-in 3D scanning service work?
1. Fill out our Service Request Form on the homepage with photos of your part.
2. We review your part and email you a project confirmation along with shipping packaging recommendations to our Boston lab.
3. Upon arrival, we photo-log and non-destructively laser scan your specimen.
4. We digitally repair any damaged tabs or cracks in solid CAD.
5. We manufacture your reproduction part in automotive ASA and safely ship back both your new part and your original donor piece.
Can you mirror rare Japanese (RHD) parts for US-market (LHD) cars?
Yes! Many JDM trim panels, wiper bezels, and driver-side center console trim are extinct in LHD configurations.
Once we optically scan a right-hand drive part, our CAD engineers digitally invert the 3D geometry across the sagittal center plane, ensuring all internal mounting bosses and external draft angles mirror symmetrically for your left-hand drive chassis.
What are your production and dispatch turnaround times?
Catalog Scans: Parts already in our catalog are printed on-demand in our Boston studio and undergo dimensional inspection. Standard orders dispatch within 3 to 5 business days.
Custom Mail-In Projects: Scanning, CAD tab reconstruction, and prototype validation typically take 7 to 10 business days from the date your donor part arrives.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide via USPS Priority International, FedEx, and DHL. Rates and estimated delivery dates are calculated in real-time at checkout based on your country.
What happens if a part doesn't fit my car?
We back every reproduction with our 100% Factory Fitment Guarantee.
If there is any dimensional misfit or clip misalignment, email us with a photo of the area. We will revise the CAD model and send a free replacement reprint immediately, or issue a full refund if preferred.
Have a question about a specific chassis or part number?
Our engineering team can cross-reference OEM diagrams or verify chassis interchangeability for your project.
